PATTAYA – GERMAN MAN FOUND DEAD ON DECK CHAIR ON JOMTIEN BEACH

...On a deckchair , police found the dead body of a foreign man sitting facing the sea with his head drooping. He was wearing an army t-shirt, blue shorts and sandals. His mouth was full of saliva.

A Nokia mobile phone was found dropped on the sand and he was holding a pair of glasses. Police also discovered an empty bottle of Singha beer, a glass, a packet of cigarettes and a lighter. A plastic bag from 7/11 contained a bottle of water and a small bottle of Thai whiskey [Hong Thong] , a can of coca cola which had been opened and a number of cigarette ends...

...Police called the last dialed number in Mr. Kernchen’s phone which was answered by a Thai lady (name withheld). She explained that the deceased had been staying in Pattaya for quite a long time. Lately he’d been sleeping rough in the street or on the beach as he had run out of money and couldn’t afford to pay for his room. She said he’d tried to borrow money from friends to buy a ticket back home but he still didn’t have enough.
